Bansko

Bansko

Bansko is situated at the North Eastern tip of the Pirin Mountains and is set at 925 metres above sea level. This mountain resort is one of the biggest ski resorts in Bulgaria and can boast the longest season stretching from the middle of December to the middle of April.

The total length of the piste is over 70 km. The pistes are set amongst a picturesque alpine backdrop overlooked by the Pirin, Rhodopi and the Rila mountains that rise to 2900m. The pistes are split into two main regions – the lower piste is called Chalin Valog and the highest Shiligarnika. The latter is where the slalom and giant slalom can be found. A new gondola has recently been erected to allow ski enthusiasts even more comfort. Along with the new Gondola, large TV monitors have been positioned on display to show the skier the exact conditions at the top of the mountain before they set off.
The slopes are maintained to an excellent standard with up to 40 snow cannons strategically placed to prolong the ski season.

Bansko is a mixture of brand new state of the art facilities mixed with the old historic and cultural past. This provides a mix that compliments the past, present and future perfectly.

Bansko is a forward thinking resort that does not neglect its history. It has around 120 cultural and historic monuments for the visitor to explore and discover.
